Our Philosophy
Warm, easygoing, sociable, uncomplicated, and also active, connected to nature and up for any adventure. Die Barbara is simply unique. But actually, Die Barbara is not a person, but a very special way of life that you will immediately sense upon entering our B&B Hotel die Barbara. In both summer and winter, our guests keep coming back to us precisely because of this unique atmosphere, and of course also because of our great location.
Directly on the destination slope of Planai in the center of Schladming, Die Barbara is always at the pulse of the times. It is even more important to us to create a place where you feel at home, can relax, and be yourself. A place where the simple things take priority – a good breakfast, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and nice people with whom you can share your love for sports and nature. The special die Barbara feeling is primarily conveyed by the host family and our employees; you just sense that we genuinely enjoy being there for our guests.

Who was Barbara?
Beautiful and mysterious – don't you think? Unfortunately, only a few of us have had the pleasure of meeting the namesake of our hotel in person. But one thing is certain – Barbara, also known as Wetti, was the perfect hostess – charming, warm-hearted, and humorous. Just as one imagines a family-run business back in the day. It's wonderful that this family atmosphere, as created by Barbara Danklmaier half a century ago in the “Haus Barbara,” is still clearly palpable today.

A Piece of History – Vacation in Schladming with Tradition & Warmth
As early as the late 1960s, the company founders Fritz and Barbara (nickname “Wetti”) Danklmaier proved to have a good instinct when they purchased a property from the Catholic Church on the then touristically insignificant Coburgstraße for the construction of a guesthouse. From then on, the “Haus Barbara” was operated by the Danklmaier family with unmistakable Styrian hospitality. Son Florian was born with the talent for hospitality and together with his partner Doris took the business to the next level, from a guesthouse to a 4* hotel. One thing was always important to the entrepreneurial family, despite the continuous development of their house: the familial character that makes die Barbara so special must not be lost.
